European Meetings and Events Conference will take place 29-31 January 2012 in Budapest at the Budapest Congress and World Trade Center with nearly 400 participants. MPI - founded in 1972 - is the world's largest tourism organisation that has 23.000 members. MPI brings together those incentive and congressional decision makers, event organizers which have got the largest and the most influential profession trade connections with respect to the international MICE market development. Win of the EMEC is the result of a two-year-long process and also a great opportunity for the country because MPI is the international body of the most important European meeting and event organizers.

„Best Stand Design Overall” award on EIBTM in Barcelona

EIBTM-nyertes_standFrom 29 November the tourism industry focused on Barcelona, as the Catalan capital opened its doors of EIBTM, one of the largest MICE exhibition and fair in the world. During the 3 days from 90 countries 3100 organizers, hotels and event venues expected more than 3800 hosted buyers. Hungary's tourism offers were also presented at the event cooperation in record number of co-exhibitors (21) organized by the Hungarian National Tourist Office. The concept of the Hungarian stand focusing on the valuable water resource below the surface won this time the prestigious title of „Best Stand Design Overall”. The Hungarian Convention Bureau's staff held presentation 3 times a day for the experts about the tourism offer of the country and could promote the sales promotion campaign Budapest - more than expected.
In terms of taking place the next European Meetings and Events Conference organized by MPI  in Budapest, the Hungarian National Tourist Office held a reception in EIBTM under the MPI stand. During the event of more than 200 people, the HNTO by promoting tourism offer was egged the specialists to visit the event hold in the Hungarian capital.

Successful BTS fam trip in Budapest

bts-workshopThe Hungarian Convention Bureau organized a great successful fam trip connected to the 9th Business Travel Show, between 12-14 October. 86 meeting and conference organizers arrived from different part of Europe, China, India and Middle East as well. This year the participants had the opportunity for further meetings in the framework of "Budapest - more than expected" MICE Campaign Workshop, which was also coordinated by HCB. According to the feedback this program was the most efficient and useful part of the study tour (92% of the respondents was very satisfied). During the fam trip, our guests could personally visit several four and five-star hotels and the most important special gala venues in Budapest. The amazing incentive programs provided by Hungarian DMCs highly contributed to the success of our fam trip.

Continues the successful campaign "Budapest - more than expected"

The Hungarian Convention Bureau still invites international meeting planners, event organizer agencies and companies to participate in the ”Budapest - More than expected” campaign. The programme applies for confirmed event bookings in Hungary that must take place in the period between 1 December, 2011 and 30 June, 2012. In case you book your event in Hungary, your gala dinner venue will be sponsored by the Hungarian Convention Bureau.

Terms and conditions ”Budapest - More than expected” programme is open to all international companies (meeting planners, event organiser agencies and companies).

The Hungarian Convention Bureau sponsors complimentary room rental for the gala dinner or reception if your event or meeting planned to be organised in Hungary meet the following criteria:

  • min. 50 participants,
  • min. 2 nights in the campaign participating four or five star hotels,
  • min. half day meeting in the hotel,
  • cooperation with a campaign participating Hungarian DMC for the organisation of gala dinner or reception (catering, decoration, furniture, entertainment, technics).

European Aviation Summit in Budapest

routeseurope-logothe continent's most important annual meeting of aviation professional organizing committee chose Budapest for the 2013 Summit Conference. The successful tender was submitted by Budapest Airport, the Hungarian National Tourist Office (in cooperation with the Hungarian Convention Bureau) and Tourism Office of Budapest. The application of the BA and its partners has demonstrated that the Hungarian capital is suited for such a large size and significant event. Annual Conference of Routes Europe has been organized since 2005, and the most important target is to provide a forum for the management of the European Airlines and Airports, Tourist Boards to discuss the most important questions on air transport, new and launch services. This year the conference was held in Cagliari (Italy), Sardinia's capital with 700 participants. In 2012 it will take place in Tallinn, Estonia's capital.

EUROECHO 2011 in Budapest

3,000 participants on the scientific congress

euroecho2011-mini-poster-70x105EUROECHO and other Imaging Modalities, the annual meeting of the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE), a registered branch of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), was held in our fascinating capital, Budapest from 7-10 December 2011. Over the last few years, the congress has doubled in size and impact to become one of the largest and most important scientific meeting on non-invasive cardiovascular diagnosis anywhere in the world. More than 3000 specialists arrived from all over Europe for the conference. The scientific meeting took place at pavilions G and F of HUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Center, that were installed according to the French organizers' special requests providing place for 13 lecture halls. Several other rooms and conference services ensuring the comfort of the participants guaranteed the successful organisation of the event.

Statistics

Facts and figures

In the first nine months of 2011 Hungary hosted 287 international conferences with more than 72.000 participants. The average number of participants per meeting was 251 people. The average length of the conferences was 3,9 days. The majority of the conferences were 2 or 3 days long (50,2%). The subject of the most international conferences were medical (24,7%) followed by economical (24,4%)and other scientific topics. From January to September 74,9% of the international conferences were held in Budapest, and more than three quarters of the conference participants (81,8%) arrived from foreign countries. Outstanding achievement that 6 major international conferences were held between the number of 1001-2500 participants and three other additional over 2500 persons during this period. The table below shows the most important index numbers of 2011 and previous years.
