Corporate Social Responsibility: Your AIMS are our AIMS!

aims_logo_csrThe roots of the AIMS Group go back to 1979 – we are not a “here today, gone tomorrow” company, but one which has, over three decades, built up a solid reputation for responsible business practice. The scope of our operations – six offices in Europe, PCO and meeting planning work internationally as well as destination management services – means that we have an international outlook which goes well beyond our own borders. We are acutely aware not only of the impact of our industry on the environment and local communities, but also of our social responsibility towards those we work for, those we work with and those who work for us.
Charter for Responsible Meetings
AIMS Group has signed the Charter of Responsible Meetings drawn up at the CEO summit of EIBTM. This commits us to a responsible environmental policy for our company and the events we organise, an active policy of social responsibility in the destinations we use, as well as to adherence to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact www.unglobalcompact.org which addresses the issues of human rights, discrimination, corruption and the environment.

For our clients – “socially responsible meetings”
In line with the Charter of Responsible Meetings (see above), we will always aim to use suppliers in all destinations who adhere to the values of social responsibility in their companies and communities. Every effort is made to use local suppliers and local products in order to maximise the positive impact of the event in that destination as well as make attendees aware and appreciative of the country and community around them. The decision about whether to go beyond that and for example undertake a charitable activity ultimately lies with the client, but AIMS will always be able to supply ideas and assistance in this respect.

Make me smile - Social Responsibility for the Children

make_me_smileThe reason for the existence of Company Social Responsibility (CSR) is rarely doubted nowadays. More and more transactions are prepared in the field of CSR, more and more companies join the generous project and recognize the necessity of helping others in need and more and more of them organize teambuilding training dedicated to CSR.
Our company has already acquired much experience in supporting children, we assist in connecting the ones in need with the companies wishing to help, we collect together the possibilities and do our best to provide the best possible ideas and solutions for our customers and of course, for those they support.
All programmes are feasible in the frame of a 1-2day(s) long adventure training but with project management training it is possible to organize a few-days-long teambuilding or even one that lasts several weeks or months. In the case of adventure training we, at KidsPlanet prepare everything in advance - constantly co-ordinating with the company - of course, the task of the participants remains only the finishing (practical) stages, i.e. to assemble, decorate and to present the project to the children. If you prefer to arrange the programme as project management training then it is the participants' task also to plan, organize and keep track of the economic process, etc.All our programmes are supervised by experts (by trainers upon demand), the game parts and devices needed at the playground meet the requirements of concerning Standards MSZ EN 1176/1-7 and MSZ EN 1177 respectively and have a certificate. In the case of an adventure programme after you have chosen the desired region of the country we shall send you the offers for accomodation and programmes, as well as the possible projects available in the given region together with the lists of workable playground units and games and their prices.

Meetings Forest

trees_for_lifeIn the meetings industry, it's easy to only talk, talk, talk. Sometimes it's even just what people do. Not long ago some of them spoke about green thinking without taking any real action - just because it was fashionable and trendy. They wanted to belong, but they had cheap commercial or PR grounds in mind. Fortunately, we have left this era unexpectedly fast. Nobody can ignore the genuine concern for a healthy, eco-friendly society anymore. Every aspect of social and ethical actions even gets a chance. So at Meeting Media Company, the publishing house of HeadQuarters magazine and MIM magazine, we have lately decided to take the matter in our own hands. Of course we print on recycled paper and when we travel to do reports, we try to take the train as much as possible - instead of the plane or the company car for instance - but we were longing to initiate something bigger, something every person in the meetings industry could relate to and could actually take part in. We have bought a company grove in the Caledonian Forest, a world-famous green restoring project of Trees for Life. The idea is to plant a meetings tree on every occasion we think fit: associations, industry partners, friends, etc., with outstanding or original initiative to make the world a better place. This year for instance Adelaide Convention Centre was offered a tree to congratulate them on their comprehensive recycling and food management programme. And it will go on like that, until we've planted thousands of trees together with the entire meetings industry. Then the big dream will be accomplished: a real Meetings Forest!

‘Small Change, Big Difference’

Hilton_Foundation_LogoCampaign outline
Small Change, Big Difference is the annual guest facing campaign organised by Hilton in the Community Foundation. Money is raised by guests donating €1 on their hotel bill over the festive period (October, November and December since 2007). Since the campaign’s inception in 2004, the campaign has raised over €936,000 for charities working with disadvantaged children, including Children with Leukaemia, Barretstown, Children’s Hospices UK and Save the Children.

Hilton and Hilton in the Community Foundation administer this campaign for free. Only printing and distribution costs and local tax (where applicable) are deducted from the donations resulting in over 90c in every Euro reaching children with disabilities.

Participating Hotels
Since 2004, the campaign has been run in all UK and Ireland hotels and in 2008, was trialled in seven hotels in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Malta, and Austria (in addition to Australia and Japan). The seven European hotels trialled the campaign for two months and raised a total net fund of €8,925.

Based on the success of the trial, this year the campaign will be extended to all hotels in those countries as well as other European countries which are able to participate once they have received legal and fiscal approval.

Charitable Theme
In past years, one charity has been chosen up front to benefit from 100% of the net proceeds from the campaign. A high profile charity was chosen so that staff and guests would instantly recognise the brand and cause. With the expansion into Europe, and the campaign becoming more recognised in UK and Ireland, the campaign will be led by a theme rather than a beneficiary charity. This will enable more than one charity to benefit from the campaign proceeds, and for the charities to be local to the country raising the funds.

The Board of Trustees have agreed that this year’s theme in Europe will be ‘children with disabilities’. General Managers in each country have selected one local charity to benefit from the campaign proceeds from that country.
