Founded in 1989, Green Seal provides science-based environmental certification standards that are credible, transparent, and essential in an increasingly educated and competitive marketplace. Our industry knowledge and standards help manufacturers, purchasers, and end users alike make responsible choices that positively impact business behavior and improve quality of life. A 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, Green Seal issued its first environmental standards in 1991-2, and the first product certifications were completed in 1992. Hundreds of products and services from major companies such as 3M, Benjamin Moore, and Andersen Windows have now been certified to meet Green Seal standards, and the number of major product categories covered by standards has increased to more than 40. Today, we have established a significant market among large institutional purchasers, including government agencies, universities, and the lodgingand architectural building industries. We actively advise and assist these institutions and industry sectors in their efforts to green their purchasing, operations, and facilities management functions. |

The Green Key® is a worldwide available eco-label awarded to leisure orgnaisations, as hotels, youth hostels, conference- and holiday centres, campsites, holidayhouses and leisure facilities. To obtain The Green Key the company has to fulfil a list of environmental requirements. These requirements are contained in a number of criteria. Besides environmental demands ( by example to control the production of waste and the use of water, electricity, etc.), the criteria include demands on policy, action plans, education and communication. Obtaining The Green Key shows the sense of responsibility a organisation has for its surroundings and society. |

Our site offers a diverse listing of hotels that meet our green criteria, earning the approval of hotel guests and hospitality professionals alike. The resources on EcoRooms® & EcoSuites™ will guide your greener hotel search, supporting the sustainability standards you expect with experience and credibility. To assure that our approval and certification goes well beyond greenwashing, The Board of Advisors at EcoRooms® & EcoSuites™ assembled the 'Significant Seven," a rigorous set of standards for ecologically responsible hotel products, practices, and principles. We developed these criteria by combining the experience of our Board of Advisors with the needs expressed by Eco-conscious consumers in surveys by Deloitte and TIA. Our approved hotels use more sustainable cleaning, paper, and amenity products, empower guests to make a difference with recycling and linen re-use programs, and increase efficiency with better lighting, plumbing, and planning. For more information, read the details. We enjoy hearing from guests and hoteliers. Please contact us if you have any questions, thoughts or suggestions about the criteria or the current hotels. Also please feel free to let us know about other hotels anywhere in the world that you think would be valuable additions to EcoRooms® & EcoSuites™.
