Domina Inn Fiesta changes operator
The Domina Inn Fiesta, located in Budapest's downtown, in Király utca has closed on 31 October, due to the economic crisis. The Italian Domina Hotels Group is also leaving Hungary, the 4-star, 112-room hotel will be operated by the Austrian-Hungarian Alfa Hotel Group, from mid-November. The new management is planning to operate the hotel with more family-friendly approach and will keep on focusing on city-breaks and corporate customers. The new GM is Assaf Onn, who has run the hotel some years ago.
Expo Congress Hotel officially opened
Although the soft opening was scheduled for the week of the F-1 Hungarian Grand Prix, the official inaugural ceremony of Budapest's new 4-star hotel was held last week. Located at the entrance to the Budapest Fair Center, the 12-storey building offers 160 rooms, a conference centre for 250, two section rooms, a restaurant, a Sky Bar with spectacular panorama on the top floor, a fitness room and spa. Besides guests attending exhibitions at the Budapest Fair Center, the hotel also counts on attracting leisure travellers. Expo Congress Hotel is the 12th member of the Mellow Mood Group and the hotel chain is planning to open 5 other facilities in the next 2 years, starting with Alta Moda Hotel in Budapest's downtown next spring and the first 5-star member, Buddha Bar Klotild Palace, by the end of 2010.
Thermal Park opens in Egerszalók
30 double rooms, 42 apartments and 62 places for caravans are available facing the baths of Egerszalók. The 3-star Thermal Park offers a conference room for 100, a restaurant and a wellness section with three outdoor, heated pools. The owners aim to increase guest turnover by next year.
Conference and wellness hotel at the border
The first 4-star hotel in Szentgotthárd (west Hungary, close to the Austrian and Slovenian borders), Gotth'Art Hotel, was officially opened on 30 October. The wellness and conference hotel is located next to the Szt Gotthard Spa & Wellness, which is connected to the 148-room hotel via a corridor. The Gotth'Art Hotel offers a 500-person conference room and two section rooms for 50 people, a restaurant, a bar, a cocktail bar and a smaller, á la carte restaurant.
